Although Will Ferrell’s non-slapstick comedy film Stranger than Fiction has been out for some time, I just saw it over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the use of infographics embedded in the film. Film + infoviz is a combination that rarely occurs since it’s easily an overwhelming task; but, in particular, the opening sequence does a great job of highlighting the numbers appropriately. Not being a big fan of Ferrell in general, I would still recommend the film if you haven’t seen it.
A great new exhibition at the Museum of the City of NY includes this interactive map enabling you to visualize and compare the island of Manhattan as it grows from a plant and animal rich paradise in 1609 to the modern city today. See Eric Sanderson’s talk about the Mannahatta project at the TED Conference.
Neat production for a Japanese guy’s music video using overlapping/complementing feeds from webcams. It’s complicated to describe, so just watch it!
